Lactation consultant licensure
The committee is pursuing licensure for lactation consultants in Alabama so that IBCLC care is recognized as clinical care, is reimbursable, and is available to families statewide.
Breastfeeding protection in state law
Alabama law protects a mother's right to breastfeed her child in any location she is otherwise authorized to be. We track and support strengthening these protections.
Workplace accommodations
Under the federal PUMP Act, most employees are entitled to reasonable break time and a private, non-bathroom space to express milk. We help employers meet that standard.
Insurance coverage & reimbursement
We advocate for coverage of lactation consultations, pumps, and supplies through Medicaid and commercial plans.
